Fielders Show Dominance in Convincing Win Against CIPE

YOUR Founding Fielders rebounded from last week's stunning loss by putting 33 runs on the board compared to the 1 run that CIPE was able to put across. That run was because of an error by pitcher and co-captain Gerren. CIPE is a new team to the Think Tank league and showed flashes of brilliance, but, in the end, the onslaught of the much more experienced Fielders proved to be a rude awakening for them.

YOUR Fielders were plentiful on, and off, the field. A total of 35 people showed up for the game. Some came to play (and most everyone got in the shortened game) but some came just to cheer on YOUR Fielders as a part of the "Cheer Committee" organized by Maggie and Abby.

Highlights of the game included home runs by Todd, Gerren, and Chris. Several of the interns who came out to play showed that they had what it takes to hang with YOUR Fielders. The plate wasn't the only place where YOUR Fielders showed prowess, Ryan made a great catch in left-center, and there were also more than one 1-2-3 inning which is quite rare in the Think Tank League.

While this victory gives YOUR Fielders renewed confidence, there are many tough teams in our division and the road to the championship will not be easy. However, with the Cheering Committee helping us out and a great lineup, we should make a pretty good run at the championship.

Koch 19, Heritage 14

The start of the 2015 Heritage softball team brought a lot of new faces, but mostly, it brought a new name. After 8 years of the Supply Sliders (and formerly the Capitalist Tools) we have been re-branded as the Founding Fielders. The name was chosen via a staff vote and that was the winner.

Unfortunately, the new name did not help us win our first game as YOUR Founding Fielders fell to the Koch Institute. The game started out well enough, however, as Gerren started the season with a Home Run (that was not without controversy), followed by a single by Ryan, and an RBI triple by Todd and a sacrifice fly by Tiffany. Geissler sat the table with a double and he was driven in by newcomer James, who came around to score to give us an early 6-2 lead.

Koch started to come back, but we also answered back in those innings including a 3-run home run by another newcomer, Nathan (who also made his fair share of great plays at short). However, the onslaught became too much for YOUR Fielders as they overtook us in the top of the 7th and we were not able to answer back and we fell 19-14.

Even though the season didn't start the way we would have wanted, we still had a great time. After all, we still had pizza, wings, and beer after the game. We look forward to, what should be, a very exciting season.
